Financial Hurricane Sandy: Financial Super-Storm coming in 2013

Submitted by Charles Hugh-Smith of OfTwoMinds blog,
The next "Frankenstorm" to hit New York will be financial.
The destructive whirlwind that hits New York in 2013 will be a financial Frankenstorm.
Four years of glorious central-planning "extend and pretend" have enriched the political and financial Aristocracies, and imbued them with a bubble-era hubris that they have indeed gotten away with murder: the $6 trillion the Federal government borrowed over the past four years, the Fed's $2 trillion in fresh cash, the Fed's $16 trillion bailout of the banking sector and various perception management manipulations have righted the storm-tossed ship. All those with power in 2008 remain in power and all those with outsized wealth in 2008 still hold their outsized wealth.
The global tsunami of borrowed and printed money lifted the water-logged dinghies of the debt-serfs enough to give them hope of better times; meanwhile, their adjusted income has declined 8%: they are poorer while the neofeudal Aristocracy is much wealthier: same as it ever was, right?
Except the financial tides and winds have shifted, and the linearity of central planning is about to be disrupted by nonlinear, positive-feedback storms. Let's list a few of the major storms brewing:
1. Destabilization of the euro. I have covered the fundamentals many times here:

Rampant looting after Superstorm Sandy: New York homes and businesses hit by looters

New York home and business owners have yet another thing to worry about, just one day after Hurricane Sandy ravaged the east coast. The city has been hit with looters hoping to cash in on pricey goods left inside abandoned buildings.
Police have arrested at least 13 people in connection with looting.
The stealing is not out of necessity – in fact, no acts of looting for food or water have been reported. Instead, the thieves are swiping clothes and electrical goods in New York’s hardest hit areas.
One of those areas is South Street Seaport – a historic part of town located near Manhattan’s financial district. The storm knocked out plate-glass windows from several stores, providing a playground for looters looking for easy merchandise.
“I saw two people walking by the Ann Taylor store and reach in and take some shirts that were just laying right there by the mannequin,” a local man told the New York Post. “It’s really messed up, man. They’re really taking advantage.”
Looters also scored fancy gadgets at a nearby Brookstone store before police arrived to stand guard in the area.

Hurricane Sandy's forgotten victims: Haiti and Cuba

Editor's Note: The UN is once again appealing for funds to rebuild Haiti, while no one can account for the billions and billions that were raised for rebuilding Haiti after the devastating 2010 earthquake. Haiti has seen little or no rebuilding over the last almost 3 years since that quake. But the UN will happily take more money from you as will the Red Cross and United Way and.... beware of wolves who come to you in Charitable Organization clothing!
Hurricane Sandy’s toll in the Caribbean amounts to at least 69 dead, thousands homeless and few funds available to rebuild. Yet unlike the US, which enjoys extensive mass media coverage, the Caribbean carnage remains largely behind the scenes.
Sandy took the lives of 52 people in Haiti, 11 in Cuba, two in the Bahamas, two in the Dominican Republic, one in Jamaica and one in Puerto Rico.
In light of the difficulty to rebuild in some of the impoverished areas of the Caribbean, especially Haiti, the United Nations will be appealing for emergency aid.
"Haiti is trying to get its house in order, but each time disaster strikes, the progress is interrupted," head of the UN's office for the co-ordination of humanitarian affairs Johan Peleman told The Guardian. "This country is exposed to devastating consequences by each storm. With every burst of rain, entire mountains are washed away."

Rogue U.S. General Arrested for Activating Special Forces Teams; Ignoring Libya Stand-Down Order

The official story surrounding the events of September 11, 2012 in Benghazi, Libya which left four Americans dead, has now officially fallen apart.
After numerous flips and flops by the Obama administration, which originally attempted to paint the incident as a Muslim outcry over an anti-Islamic video, whistle blowers throughout the U.S. government, including within the White House, the State Department, national intelligence agencies and the U.S.military have made available stunning details that suggest not only did operational commanders have live visual and audio communications from drones overhead and intelligence assets on the ground, but that some commanders within the military were prepared to go-it-alone after being told to “stand down.”
Africom commanding officer U.S. General Carter Ham, after being ordered to essentially surrender control of the situation to alleged Al Queda terrorists and let Americans on the ground die, made the unilateral decision to ignore orders from the Secretary of Defense and activated special operations teams at his disposal for immediate deployment to the area.
According to reports, once the General went rogue he was arrested within minutes by his second in command and relieved of duty.

Is Hurricane Sandy a HAARP engineered Weather Modification / Weather Warfare Manufactured Storm?

Check out the original post for videos on HAARP and Hurricane Sandy:
Hurricane Sandy is making its way up the East Coast and the conspiracy theories are starting up. HAARP has long been believed to be the shadow government’s way of manipulating the weather, and this is being rumored to be another instance of it. I’ve been working on a HAARP post that was technical in nature, but I’m not fully done with it. In light of the Hurricane Sandy, here is the short and early version of it (scroll past all of it to find some videos of recent Hurricane Sandy HAARP claims circulating-including Jesse Ventura’s Conspiracy Theory HAARP episode):
In light of the worst weather and storms in centuries, one could suppose it was climate change effects, or some point to HAARP. But are the conspiracy theorists crazy for believing this? It sounds sensational, but no, they aren’t crazy; HAARP is very much capable of controlling the weather.

Storm of the Century coming every year now: Extreme storms 30 percent more common now than in 1948

(CBS News) A new report says it's raining more than ever over the United States, which paradoxically means there is also more dry weather that can lead to droughts. Environment America, a national environmental advocacy group, released its report "When it Rains, it Pours: Global Warming and the Increase in Extreme Precipitation from 1948 to 2011" on Tuesday, which claims extreme rain and snowstorms are becoming more frequent. Collecting data from nearly 65 years of weather history, the report sees a 30 percent increase in the frequency of extreme storms.
"In other words," the report says, "heavy downpours or snowstorms that happened once every 12 months on average in1948 now happen every 9 months, on average."
"As the old saying goes, when it rains, it pours - especially in recent years as bigger storms have hit us more often," says Nathan Willcox, Federal Global Warming Program Director with Environment America.
Speaking with CBS News, Willcox explained the method of collating 65 years of nationwide weather history. The organization collected data from "3,700 weather stations across the country via the National Climatic Data Center."
Not only are big storms getting more common, they're also getting bigger. The report found that the largest annual storms produce 10 percent more precipitation on average than they did 65 years ago.
The report points to global climate change as the obvious culprit for the increased ferocity of storms. Warm weather allows the air to hold more water, as well as increasing evaporation, leading to larger precipitation.

Resident Warns People Will Be ‘Fighting In The Streets’ For Gas, Food In Hurricane Sandy's Wake « CBS NEWS

NEW YORK (AP) — A strengthening Hurricane Sandy churned north Monday, raking ghost-town cities along the Northeast corridor with rain and wind gusts. Subways and schools were closed across the region of 50 million people, the floor of the New York Stock Exchange was deserted, and thousands fled inland to await the storm’s fury.
As the storm closed in on the mid-Atlantic coast, it washed away an old section of the world-famous Atlantic City Boardwalk and left most of the city’s emptied-out streets under water.
The monster hurricane was expected to make a westward lurch and blow ashore in New Jersey on Monday night, combining with two other weather systems — a wintry storm from the west and cold air rushing in from the Arctic — to create an epic superstorm.
Authorities warned that New York City and Long Island could get the worst of the storm surge: an 11-foot onslaught of seawater that could swamp lower Manhattan, flood the subways and cripple the underground network of electrical and communications lines that are vital to the nation’s financial capital.
Because of Sandy’s vast reach, with tropical storm-force winds extending almost 500 miles from its center, other major cities across the Northeast — Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia and Boston — also prepared for the worst.
“The days ahead are going to be very difficult,” Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley said. “There will be people who die and are killed in this storm.”

B.C. coast struck by mag. 6.4 aftershock following powerful 7.7 earthquake

VANCOUVER—The second largest earthquake in Canadian history was still rattling nerves Sunday, with aftershocks off the northern coast of British Columbia. On Saturday night, a massive 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit about 30 kilometres north of Sandspit, B.C., in the Haida Gwaii islands shortly after 8 p.m. local time, sending tremors north through the island chain and south as far as Metro Vancouver. It was the largest earthquake to be felt in Canada since an 8.1-magnitude quake in the same region back in 1949.

A surprisingly strong 6.4-magnitude aftershock in the same area shook residents again Sunday afternoon around 2 p.m. Earthquake expert Brent Ward from Simon Fraser University said he expects aftershocks for days ahead, but generally in the 4- to 5-magnitude range.“We don’t really understand how to predict earthquakes enough to know if something like this could be an indicator of a larger earthquake in the same vicinity occurring in the future,” Ward said Sunday. “If we get another earthquake that’s greater than 7.7, it wouldn’t be an aftershock, it would be a new earthquake.”

Hurricane Sandy now a storm of 'Historic' proportions!

Ocean meets the bay near Battersea Ave in Ocean City, New Jersey  as storm closes in on U.S. eastern coast. (credit: Joe Sheppard)
October 29, 2012NEW YORKThe latest models have Sandy making landfall along the coast of South Jersey on Monday evening between 8 and 10 p.m. “This storm is HISTORIC,” said Katie Fehlinger. CBS 3 meteorologists say this is the “worst case scenario” as it will make landfall very close to high tide and say the storm pressure is currently stronger than the Long Island Express Hurricane of 1938. Pressure as of 11 a.m. was down to 943mb and the storm was located 205 miles southeast of Atlantic City. Maximum winds were at 90 mph and it is moving north – northwest. “It is accelerating and making the turn toward the coast,” said Kathy Orr. The National Hurricane Center issued a powerful warning stating, “Sandy expected to bring life-threatening story surge and coastal hurricane winds plus heavy Appalachian snows.” “This is the worst-case scenario,” said Louis Uccellini, NOAA. In New Jersey, the dunes have already been breached in Beach Haven and in Ocean City, New Jersey, officials say during this morning’s high tide, the Ocean met the bay. Officials say, “they’ve never seen anything like it.” –CBS

Suffer the Little Children part 3: Pedophilia at BBC investigation to expand

The officer, Cmdr. Peter Spindler, described Mr. Savile, who died last October at 84, as “undoubtedly” one of the most prolific sex offenders in recent British history, during a 50-year career as a self-styled pied piper for the young, the sick and the lonely. Commander Spindler said that in preliminary telephone interviews with 130 of the potential victims, 114 of them had accused Mr. Savile of criminal behavior ranging from “inappropriate touching” to rape. Of the 300 complainants, he said, all but 2 have been female.

Savile Sexual Abuse Case Expands to Other Suspects -
Hey Cmdr. Peter Spindler: If Mr. Savile was one of the most prolific sex offenders in recent history, how come he got away with it for 50 years? How come it has taken your police force this long to expose such horrific crimes? Were you just sleeping on the job or was it your job to cover up the crimes of the rich and powerful in Britain as has happened in Belgium and all over Europe?

Links below to Previous articles on the topic of Pedophilia and Child Sex Abuse / Ritual murder by the Elite of this world (Royalty, Politicians, Corporate / Military leaders, Movie stars and such) that is anything but an aberration; it is very definitely the Norm among them. Most people have a hard time believing that such activities as portrayed in the Stanley Kubrick movie, Eyes Wide Shut are common practice amongst the very very rich and very very powerful people of this world, namely European Royalty, American Elites, and Vatican high ups.  Eyes Wide Shut glamorized the depraved activities of the rich and powerful; in reality the rituals extend far beyond just orgiastic sex with beautiful women: the real victims of the most powerful are innocent children, and the rituals do not always end with sex; murder or sacrifice is often the end of such demonic black mass rituals. The reason for prevalence for such evil against the most innocent of victims stems from the following FACT (whether anyone believes this fact or not is not important, it is a FACT, and will remain a FACT no matter what anyone believes!) The god of this world (not of the Earth or of Creation), just of the world that sits on the Earth is SATAN; it is he who gives wealth and power to those who worship him. The way He is worshiped is through infliction of pain (mostly of a sadomasochistic sexual kind, and the taking of lives): in other words, Satan is worshiped through ritual sex abuse and sacrifice; the more innocent the victims, the more wealth and power he showers upon the worshipers. Evidence that can fill libraries has been compiled throughout history that the elites of this world, more often than not, have been engaged ritualistically in pedophilia and ritual sacrifice / murders, right down to the present day. Jesus was offered the world by Satan, an offer he flatly refused! But it would appear that there is no shortage of people willing to take him up on his offer. That is who the Elites / Royalty / Presidents - Prime Ministers / Business big-wigs / Military leadership / Movie Stars / Rock Stars / Sports stars of this world truly are; worshipers of Satan. The higher up they are on the ladder of power, the more depraved, degenerate, demonic, and evil their worship becomes. Their deeds have been exposed throughout history yet, few if any, are ever brought to justice. Those who are so corrupted that they can hardly be called human share power with those who are equally corrupt; this is the reason why the Police investigating the perpetrators actually work to cover up the crimes; chiefs of Police, especially of National  agencies like the FBI and Scotland Yard are most likely themselves compromised as are their bosses. There will be little justice, if any, in this world for the victims but Justice they will find when their murderers and abusers are hauled before the Judgment of the Righteous Judge who can neither be bribed nor tempted nor blackmailed into denying Justice to the victims, and letting the criminals go free!

Are you ready for Emergencies? Panic Buying Grips the East Coast: Mad Rush for Supplies Ahead of Mega-Storm

While many people are still trying to make up their minds about the potential severity of the storm threatening the U.S. northeast, it’s not stopping millions of concerned residents from racing to to grocery stores, gas stations and hardware depots in droves.
If you’ve ever wanted to know what it looks like when the 99% of Americans who have failed to prepare for a disaster wake up and realize they are facing a major crisis take a look at what’s happening on the east coast ahead of Hurricane Sandy.
Good luck buying lanterns, generators, propane, or – if you are really unprepared – rain boots and batteries in areas in the path of Hurricane Sandy as it bears down on the U.S. East Coast.
The approach of the gigantic storm, which is expected to come ashore on Monday night set off a weekend scramble for supplies from Virginia to New England, causing long lines at gas stations, bare shelves at hardware and home-supply shops, and a run on bread, bottled water and canned foods.
“It’s been crazy. We’re the only one open who still has gas,” said Karen Tripodi, a customer service representative at Cumberland Farms, a gas station and market in Newington, Connecticut.
“They’re coming in for propane, ice, water, milk and cigarettes.”

Hey Media: Expose the rich and powerful and go to jail! Laws do not apply to the elite: Greek editor stands trial over Swiss accounts list!

(Reuters) - A prominent Greek journalist who published the names of more than 2,000 wealthy Greeks with Swiss bank accounts appeared in court on Monday to stand trial on charges of violating data privacy laws.
Costas Vaxevanis, editor of the "Hot Doc" weekly magazine, was arrested at the weekend for publishing the "Lagarde List" which French authorities gave to Athens in 2010 so that the account holders could be investigated for possible tax evasion.
The list - and the accompanying saga of how it was passed from one senior official to the next and misplaced at one point without anyone apparently taking action - has riveted Greeks who are angry at a political class seen as unwilling to crack down on the wealthy elite.

Back against the Wall consumers spending their meager savings to buy food and gas: Market rejoices!

Editor's Note: Even as the US (and Global) consumer finds himself with his back flat against the wall of declining incomes and rising prices, and as most of the increase in consumer spending comes from rising gas and energy prices, Wall Street rejoices and pretends that the great American consumer has returned in force; the blind as a mole Mainstream Media spins the report like it is good news that savings are almost zero and soon to go negative again! O what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive! And the Media and Wall Street and Politicians need not practice how to deceive any longer, they are the Grandmasters of deceit like their father the devil who comes not but to Steal, and to Kill, and to Destroy! The world is being destroyed right before our eyes but the masses will only wake up when their world lies in ruins all around them. Let them not claim that they never saw it coming for this ruin has been seen coming for decades if not longer! And what a coincidence that in the past few weeks, just before the election, all the Economic numbers have turned solidly positive; I would be very skeptical of these reported numbers for they are prone to be just as fake as the Economic Recovery that is being touted by the Mainstream Media!
The Commerce Department said on Monday consumer spending rose 0.8 percent, the largest increase since February, after an unrevised 0.5 percent gain in August. (Reuters) - Consumer spending rose solidly in September as households stepped up purchases on automobiles and a range of other goods, but the increase came at the expense of savings.
Economists polled by Reuters had expected spending, which accounts for about 70 percent of U.S. economic activity to increase 0.6 percent in September.
When adjusted for inflation, consumer spending increased 0.4 percent after edging up 0.1 percent the prior month.
Financial markets showed little reaction to the data. U.S. stock markets will be closed on Monday, and possibly on Tuesday, as a mammoth storm threatens the U.S. East Coast.

Hurricane Sandy Storm Could Be Bigger Than Worst East Coast Storm On Record « CBS DC

UPDATED 10/28/12 11:30 a.m.:
SHIP BOTTOM, N.J. (AP) — Tens of millions of people in the eastern third of the U.S. in the path of the unprecedented freak storm had hours Sunday to prepare for the first raindrops that were expected later in the day, to be followed over the next few days by sheets of rain, high winds and even heavy snow.
The warning from officials to anyone who might be affected was simple: Be prepared and get out of the way.
“We’re looking at impact of greater than 50 to 60 million people,” said Louis Uccellini, head of environmental prediction for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Hurricane Sandy was headed north from the Caribbean, where it left nearly five dozen dead, to meet a winter storm and a cold front, plus high tides from a full moon, and experts said the rare hybrid storm that results will cause havoc over 800 miles from the East Coast to the Great Lakes.

Clashes in Peruvian capital market leave 4 dead

Two more people were killed in week-long clashes in Lima, bringing the death toll to four as police battled locals to shut down a market. Over 100 were arrested in what the mayor dubbed a mission to bring order to a neighborhood of “chaos and filth.”
Violence in Lima over the past week has claimed a total of four lives as city authorities attempted to close the newly established market 'La Parada.' The city council increased the police presence in the area in a bid to stem the riots.

“We have deployed 5,000 police officers – 3,200 in the market itself and 1,200 on the border of the Gamarra trading area [La Parada],”
chief of police Raul Salazar said.

Canada's close shave: Msssive 7.7 magnitude earthquake strikes off West Coast

The inhabitants of British Columbia narrowly escaped the 7.7 magnitude quake that struck off the Canadian coast. A tsunami alert was issued for the country's west coast, but if the mammoth quake had struck a city it would have caused sizable damage.
The 7.7 tremor rattled the Queen Charlotte Islands at around 8:00am local time, prompting the mass evacuation of British Columbia's coastal regions. Aftershocks – some topping 5.0 magnitude on the Richter scale – continued to follow the massive quake.
The National Weather service initially issued a tsunami warning for the coastal areas of British Columbia, but later extended it to encompass southern Alaska, northern California, southern Oregon and Hawaii. The warning was later downgraded to an advisory.
In Hawaii, authorities rushed to evacuate citizens to higher ground as a precaution again a tsunami that they said could “damage along the coastline of all islands in the state of Hawaii.”
Gerard Fryer, a senior geophysicist at the Pacific Tsunami warning center told CNN that, given the scale of the quake, Canada got lucky with a near-miss.

Before The Election Is Over, Wall Street has already Won!

By Nomi Prins  October 25, 2012

Before the campaign contributors lavished billions of dollars on their favorite candidate; and long after they toast their winner or drink to forget their loser, Wall Street was already primed to continue its reign over the economy.
For, after three debates (well, four), when it comes to banking, finance, and the ongoing subsidization of Wall Street, both presidential candidates and their parties’ attitudes toward the banking sector is similar  – i.e. it must be preserved – as is – at all costs, rhetoric to the contrary, aside.
Obama hasn’t brought ‘sweeping reform’ upon the Establishment Banks, nor does Romney need to exude deregulatory babble, because nothing structurally substantive has been done to harness the biggest banks of the financial sector, enabled, as they are, by entities from the SEC to the Fed to the Treasury Department to the White House.
In addition, though much is made of each candidates’ tax plans, and the related math that doesn’t add up (for both presidential candidates), the bottom line is, Obama hasn’t explained exactly WHY there’s $5 trillion more in debt during his presidency, nor has Romney explained HOW to get a $5 trillion savings.

Will The Bottom Fall Out? 15 Signs That Layoffs And Job Losses Are Skyrocketing

By Michael Snyder / The Economic Collapse  October 26, 2012
If you still have a good job, you might want to hold on to it very tightly because there are a whole bunch of signs that unemployment in the United States is about to start getting worse again.
Over the past several weeks, a substantial number of large corporations have announced disappointing earnings for the third quarter.
Many of those large corporations are also loaded up with huge amounts of debt.  So what is the solution?  Well, the favorite solution on Wall Street these days seems to be to lay off workers.  In fact, it is almost turning into a feeding frenzy.
Since September 1st, we have seen more job cuts announced than during any other two month period since the start of 2010.  These announcements represent future layoffs and job losses which are not even showing up in the unemployment numbers yet.
So needless to say, things don’t look very promising for the end of 2012 or for the beginning of 2013.  If this race to eliminate jobs becomes a stampede, will we see the bottom fall out of the employment market?

Social Upheaval / Protests not limited to Northern Hemisphere: Violent protests in Chile and Peru

Police teargas Chilean youth demanding education (VIDEO)

Students clashed with police on the streets of the Chilean capital ahead of this weekend's municipal election, as protesters vent their anger over the government’s inability to respond to demands for education reform.
Protests turned violent in Santiago as police used tear gas and water cannons to push back the hostile crowd of student who resorted to Molotov cocktails and stones to get their message across on the grounds of the University of Santiago.
The crowds of young people also gathered peacefully in many parts of the city to once again pressure officials to act on their behalf ahead of Sunday’s vote.
President Sebastian Pinera recently introduced the 2013 budget bill, which showed a record-high 12.8 billion US dollars in education financing.
But students say it is too little, as the system fails families with poor-quality public schools, expensive private universities and education loans at high interest rates.
