U.S. Rep. Barney Frank (D-Newton) says America might have to default on its bills for the first time ever because Democrats and Republicans can’t agree to raise the government’s $14.3 trillion debt ceiling.
“I’m pessimistic about anything reasonable (winning congressional approval) in the near term,” Frank, the ranking Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee, told the New England Council in a Boston speech today. “It may be that we’re going to have to see some failure to raise the debt limit and some temporary hiatus in our ability to pay our bills (for lawmakers to act).”

ISLAMABAD - The brazen al-Qaeda-linked attack on the Pakistan navy's Mehran air base in the southern port city of Karachi on Sunday night marks the violent beginning of an internal ideological struggle between Islamist elements in the Pakistani armed forces and their secular and liberal top brass.
More than 10 heavily armed militants attacked the base from three sides, blowing up several sensitive aircraft including a United States-manufactured surveillance plane. At least 20 security personnel are known to have been killed and as of late Monday morning the militants were still holding hostages in the facility.

So says Hiroaki Koide of Kyoto University Research Reactor Institute, in a telephone interview on May 19 with independent video-journalist Tetsuo Jinbo of Videonews.com (who did the video report of the 20-kilometer radius evacuation zone back in April, showing cows and dogs prowling the deserted towns).
Koide is practically agreeing with Christopher Busby that there's not much anyone can do to stop the release of radioactive materials and further contamination of air, soil and water, other than somehow "entomb" the reactors (a.k.a. Chernobyl solution).

(This entombment of the reactors seemed like the only logical solution to even a layperson like myself and I questioned in one my News Updates back in March as to why it was not being suggested or undertaken immediately. I now believe Fukushima is a deliberate policy of Geocide (of killing the Earth by design), in my article titled Judgment Day on May 21st? I speculated that by the time the antichrist Beast arises to power, the planet will resemble something we might see in a post - apocalyptic movie such as The Road, Soylent Green or the Mad Max movies, a scorched earth everywhere with the surviving population densely packed like sardines in mega cities, of which there will be few in the world. Fukushima is but the beginning of the irradiation and scorching of the planet. In another 10 - 15 years people will fondly remember the days when there were trees and flowers and green grass, and blue skies, and clear water, this world will only exist in movies and photographs, the real world will probably look worse than in Hollywood movies.)
