The Purpose of Creation - Part 1

In previous articles and radio shows, I have written and spoken at length on the chronology and history of creation. Almost all these articles and shows addressed the topic of HOW all things that are VISIBLE to our eyes were created by the INVISIBLE GOD. I would now like to address the subject of the purpose of creation; why did God create anything at all? When we look at the state of the world today, it would be a fair question to ask that if God is omnipotent and omniscient, for what purpose was this seemingly imperfect world created? And what purpose does this fragile, mortal, and not to mention grossly evil creature called man serve? The answers to these questions are to be found in the following scripture:
Revelation 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. This scripture clearly explains that God created all things for His own pleasure; the question is how does he derive pleasure from his creation?

All things were created for God’s pleasure, how He derives pleasure from His creation is by experiencing life through His creation, man in particular. Regrettably the present age is not yet the age of pleasure, so for the present time God suffers through His creation, man in particular but it was necessary to for such suffering to be endured by God; for without having had the experience of pain He could not enjoy the fullness of pleasure in the age to come. God’s sentience is experienced through His creation, but in this age man exists primarily to inflict pain on His Maker; this is the reason for so much pain and suffering in this world. The entire spectrum of pain suffered by man, from a tiny pinprick to the most brutal death, is suffered by God through man. By suffering all the pain that has ever been inflicted upon any creature, God is equipping Himself to enjoy the pleasures of life forever and ever beginning with the age that is soon coming. God who is all Consciousness has literally divided His consciousness into countless individual consciousnesses, not just in man but all living things, and the sum of the experience of each individual consciousness constitutes His total experience; how else could God experience Life? This is the reason why the Bible tells us that all things have been created for God’s pleasure. Even those whose sole purpose of existence in this life is to inflict pain upon others, mostly the rich and powerful people of this world, serve a purpose for God. So you see there is a reason for the way the world is the way it is, God did not make any mistakes that He is now attempting to correct, His planning and execution of those plans has been flawless from the beginning. This is a complex subject that will require much meditation, prayer, and study of God’s Word for readers and listeners to fully grasp but God has given us His Spirit to lead and guide us into all truth, so it is possible for us to understand the deep things of God.
To fulfill the greater purpose of creation as briefly described above, God had to first of all make Himself visible; God the Father is an invisible being as the Bible tells us in numerous scriptures such as the ones listed below:

·         Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse…
·         Colossians 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature…
·         1 Timothy 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
·         Hebrews 11:27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

The word invisible in the original Greek language is the word AORATOS and is defined as follows: aóratos; gen. aorátou, masc.-fem., neut. aóraton, adj. from the priv. a (G1), without, and horáō (G3708), to see. Invisible, that which cannot be seen with the physical eyes. The definition is pretty straightforward and means exactly what we expect it to mean.

If we understand that God the Father is not a corporeal being; He does not, or He did not have a body in the beginning, then it becomes easy to understand why He is invisible. So what does the bible tell us about God the Father, not the Son of God or even The Holy Spirit, but rather that person that the bible calls God the Father? Numerous scriptures such as the one quoted here address the first person of the Godhead as God the Father: Galatians 1:3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father,… So why is God the Father invisible?
·         John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

God = The Word (The Intelligence, The Reason, The Logic, The Language, The Sound or the intelligent energy expressed through sound whether audible to the human ear or not. ) This scripture tells us that God the Father is the Intelligence that is infinite (Psalm 147:5), and this intelligence is pure energy, it did not exist in a corporeal form and therefore He is invisible. We could conclude, without being in error, that God is a mind that did not inhabit a body in the beginning. A mind is not visible, a mind is nothing more than intelligent energy, and therefore God the Father is invisible. How do we know that this intelligence that is God is energy? The answer is found in Hebrews 4:12, For the word of God is quick, and powerful,… The word ‘Quick’ in this scripture means ALIVE, and the word ‘Powerful’ means ENERGY; so we can rephrase this verse as follows: The Word of God is alive and energy or the Word of God is living energy. Since the Word is God, we can conclude that God the Father is living energy, not a corporeal being, and therefore He is invisible.

Energy can be converted into matter which is how the Universe came into being, God the Father, the living energy shaped that energy into matter using His intelligence. So nothing came into existence randomly or by chance; everything that we call Matter came into existence by a transformation of energy into atoms and molecules, and cells and DNA. As Psalm 147:5 tells us God is infinite energy, not subject to Time and Space, and is therefore the only one that could have originated Time and Space. God is intelligent energy and a sentient being, which is how intelligent creatures like man that are also subject to feeling and emotions, are sentient like their Creator, came into existence.

If God the Father is pure energy, He is an intelligent person yet not a corporeal being then it stands to reason that he is invisible exactly as the bible teaches. So the first purpose of material creation was to make the invisible God visible. Romans 1:20 states, ‘For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead.’ Material creation testifies loudly and clearly of the creator. Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. 2. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.
Material creation reveals to us the Creator, the varied and infinite facets of our Creator. The infinite Universe speaks to us of his infinity, the heavens and the celestial bodies like the sun, moon and stars speak to us of His Highness and Loftiness, of His Majesty and Royalty. Earthly buildings reflect the glory of the builder, Buckingham Palace for instance speaks of the glory of the English royalty, and so do the heavens declare the glory of God exactly as the psalmist testifies. Granted man is too selfish and too greedy and too self centered to even look up and reflect upon the heavens, and to understand what they reveal but nonetheless they are constantly speaking to us.

Each age of creation has revealed to His creation, His intelligent creation, more of the Creator. As chronicled in my Chronology of Creation audio series, all of God’s creation did not appear magically and instantaneously, it has unfolded slowly, and over many ages spanning eons, periods of time that may have lasted millions of years, even billions of years, the exact time is impossible for us to determine, only God knows for sure. Romans 1:20 tells us that the very nature of God, his eternal power, his Godhead maybe clearly seen, may be understood by the things that are made, things that are visible speak to us of the invisible God. So one of the purposes of creation was to make the invisible God visible, this has happened in a series of revelations that have lasted several ages until the present age which is the penultimate age of creation. We are now on the cusp of the full revelation, of knowing fully, of seeing clearly, not darkly through a glass.
·         1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

That which has been revealed is so lofty, so high, so magnificent, and so powerful that it could not be done instantaneously; just as a child cannot be taught nuclear physics in kindergarten, so too was it necessary for God to slowly reveal Himself in successive ages and epochs. It had to be done slowly and progressively; everything that has happened has happened according to His plan, including the origin of evil and of darkness as embodied in Satan. However there is more to material creation or the purposes of material creation than meets the eye, at least the eyes of the blinded majority who labor constantly like worker ants trying to accumulate wealth and riches that few ever succeed in acquiring, and which never can bring true satisfaction and pleasure to them. Yet they too serve a purpose for God; how God experiences, and is preparing Himself through His body to experience the full spectrum of sentience and consciousness will be discussed in further detail in part 2.
·         Colossians 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.

  1. I gather you have read Bernard Haisch's, The God Theory. A very interesting theory which finds some confirmation with in the great commandment... "Love the Lord thy God with all your heart, soul and strength. Love thy neighbor as thy self." Loving your neighbor is loving God thus God loving man is God loving himself.
