Historic Ruling: Catholic church to lose historic property tax exemption in Italy + Organized Child Sex Abuse

Matthew 18:5-7 / And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!

Editor's Note: In an October 3rd article it was reported that the Roman Catholic church earns over $5 billion annually in Germany alone, and that is just from its power to tax. Link to article: The Catholic Church's income from taxing Germans (yes it has power to tax) is over $5 billion annually. In the article linked below, the estimates are that in Italy alone, the church would have to pay 500 million to 2 billion Euros in taxes per year based on their commercial Real Estate holdings within Italy. If they would be required to pay 1 billion plus in taxes, how much income would it be earning from these business enterprises, would 2-3 billion be reasonable estimates? Although it is assumed that most of their Business and Real Estate holdings are in Europe and South America, the fact is that they have equal or more holdings in the US and Canada, and all across the world including Australia. The wealth and power of this organization is well hidden because it pretty much owns the media but it is unlikely that there is any corporation in the world that comes close to having the power and influence as does the Vatican. Just because its holdings are not listed under one corporation  does not mean that the church does not control the thousands of corporations and holding companies through local bishops and cardinals that eventually answer to Rome. Even big banks like The Bank of America are rumored to be under the control of the Vatican. So this organization is anything but an Ecclesiastical one, it is a business through and through, always has been and always will be! It is because of the wealth and power of the church that few, if any of its hundreds and even thousands of priests and ministers that have been engaged in Pedophilia and other abominable acts for centuries are ever prosecuted or held accountable. The following report catalogues the numerous Child Sex Abuse cases that have come to light in recent times, and remember that such cases rarely come to light in Catholic countries, Ireland being the exception:

Catholic sex abuse has a long and ongoing history intertwined with that of religious institutions. From Ireland to Malta the pandemic has swept across the world, but its caliber remains veiled from the public eye. RT looks at the scale of the problem. It is almost too soon to give an unemotional response to the revelations of routine sex abuse by appointees, officers, members and employees of the Catholic Church in Ireland. The Irish Times covers the story honourably, while the Independent seems to minimize the story. (The media in America in particular has a history of minimizing and brushing such reports under the rug - editor's observation). Let's remember that the problem is not Ireland's. It is the church and its many institutions, besides. Pedophilia runs to the highest levels of society. Five hundred years after the Spanish occupation of the Netherlands, it was the descendent of the Spanish governor, the Duke of Alba, who was fiddling with children in what his family must have considered their hunting grounds.

In Britain, the Chairman of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, an MP now Lord Greville Janner, was named by a boy at a children's home in Leicestershire as a frequent, abusing visitor. The press reported Janner's name, accidentally. I remembered his name because one of my schoolboy contemporaries, on a trip to the House of Commons in 1977, disappeared for five hours in the company of Mr Janner, who entertained the child in the Commons' tea room. I thought at the time this to be a strange, homosexual oddity. The brief naming of Janner, later expunged from the press, confirmed my suspicions.

The Irish investigation into nationwide, endemic, high-level, child abuse took 10 years to result in a published report. The cost of the investigation has reached €70 million. The establishment, having refused to investigate the case for so long, decided to profit from it. Corruption piled upon abuse. As one comment to the London Times put it, "Sex Abuse in the catholic church is a misnomer. What is and has been for centuries is the "Systemic Homosexual Grooming" at the root of Catholic theology via Plato, Aristotle, and mainly Greek {Spartan} philosophy.
The church is rotting from the inside out. That is why the cover up term pedophilia is used, when in fact it is pederasty and ephobilia. Other commentators point out that Malta is another outpost of Catholic sex abuse. I know the Christian Brothers were violent and active in the United States. That country has other scandals. Unmarked graves at a reform school and no prosecutions?
Child abuse is a merely a decadent pleasure that runs to the top of our societies. It is time for discussion, which is why I devote a small corner of my insignificant site to the topic.
God bless the victims.

Italy’s Catholic Church will be forced to pay taxes starting in 2013 after the EU pressured the country’s government to pass a controversial law stripping the Church of its historic property tax exemption. The Catholic Church in Italy is excluded from paying taxes on its land if at least a part of a Church property is used non-commercially – for instance, a chapel in a bed-and-breakfast. "The regulatory framework will be definite by January 1, 2013 – the start of the fiscal year – and will fully respect the [European] Community law," Italian premier Mario Monti's government said in a statement on Tuesday.
The move could net Italy revenues of 500 million to 2 billion euros annually across the country, municipal government associations said. The extra income from previously exempt properties in Rome alone – including hotels, restaurants and sports centers – could reach 25.5 million euros a year, La Repubblica daily newspaper reported. On Monday, the Council of State, Italy's highest ranking court for administrative litigation, ruled against the new law. Authorities stepped in, arguing that everyone in Italy should pay property tax, including the Church. The measure came after the country’s leadership decided in February to alter Italy’s property tax code, ending the Church’s longstanding privileges due to the severe debt crisis.
Last December, after new austerity measures were adopted in the country, 130,000 Italians signed an online petition urging the government to strip the Church of its tax exemption. “It was time that they paid, too, with all the exemptions they’ve had throughout the years,” Marco Catalano, a 35-year-old shopkeeper in Rome, told the New York Times in February, adding that he goes to church twice a month. “They own the most beautiful buildings in downtown Rome, on Italian soil, and rent them out at market prices. They don’t give them for free or at low prices for charity.” Two years ago, the EU began to investigate whether the tax privileges of some Church properties in Italy could be considered illegal state aid.
