Famines in Diverse Places / The Growing Food Crisis

An article I published on March 21 of this year titled THE COMING FOOD CRISIS addressed the subject of coming food shortages in the world. Since then it appears the problems have been exacerbated in major food producing regions of the world due to weather problems. Food price inflation as a result is a certainty, especially in the poorest countries, affecting the weakest and most vulnerable of the populace of our planet. As we look for the signs that Jesus gave us heralding the end of the age, and of His return, we notice with some alarm the growing food crisis that began in earnest back in 2007. This article provides an update to the problems previously noted in the first article on the subject.
It appears that Jesus’ prophecy of ‘Famines in diverse places’ has a high probability of being fulfilled in the coming year or two. ‘The Day of the Lord’ that precedes the return of Christ to Earth is a time of gloom and darkness as foretold by the prophets Amos and Joel more than 2500 years ago. Famines in diverse places accompanied by catastrophic natural disasters, warfare and worldwide economic collapse will indeed be a time of doom and unbearable pain for untold millions, even billions around the planet.  Billions will perish because of the collective catastrophes that will overtake this world, and sooner rather than later it would seem.
·         Amos 5:18 Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.
·         Joel 2:1 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; 2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.

Though these events are certain to overtake our world on a scale never before witnessed in human history; the majority of humanity remains oblivious to the dark shadows growing ever darker, that are being cast upon our world. The poor in third world countries, suffering under extreme poverty, have neither the time nor the opportunity to understand the real causes of their sufferings. They must labour without ceasing just to put food on the table, or on the floor in most cases, since a table is a luxury few of the poor in this world can afford. The middle class in both the third world, and in developed countries are far too busy chasing their dreams of wealth and luxury to even want to consider the possibility that the house of cards world they inhabit may come crashing down upon them at any moment. Like ostriches with their heads in the sand, they wish for nothing more than that the problems facing this world will vanish, will be resolved by the powers that be, and they will go on living merrily and happily forever. Little do they know (because they don’t want to know) that the powers that be have caused their problems and are not working to resolves the economic crisis but rather to exacerbate it. When the day dawns that the foolish middle class wakes up to empty grocery store shelves with nothing to cook on their six burner gas ranges, they will feign surprise and shock but they should have known better, for the signs have been shining brighter and brighter this past decade that trouble is a brewing. The ultra wealthy elites know exactly what is coming and they have made provisions (pun intended) to keep them in caviar and champagne even as the world around them will see the angel of death being kept busy on a scale surpassing that of the days of Noah.
The following news articles confirm the prophecy of Jesus and predictions of this pending food shortage catastrophe that will headline tomorrow’s news even though such stories may be buried on page 25 of our newspapers today.

MOSCOW — "I would like to inform you about one more decision," Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin told his cabinet at the end of a government meeting as he prepared to drop one of his trademark bombshells.
Top wheat exporter Russia, Putin said, would from August 15 ban the export of grain until December 31 to keep prices down at home amid the worst drought to hit the country in decades.
The announcement catapulted wheat futures in Chicago and Europe up 10 percent to new two-year highs and prompted a warning from the UN food agency of a "serious" situation on world food markets. Read more...

The world faces an inflationary time bomb as shortages of food threaten to push prices to fresh all-time highs. Read more… The White House chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel recently stated that “you never want a serious crisis to go to waste…” and commodity traders from Chicago to New York to London, the Goldman Sachs types, seem to have learnt this lesson rather well. As mentioned in the first news article, “The announcement catapulted wheat futures in Chicago and Europe up 10 percent to new two-year highs”, this happened immediately upon the Putin statement being made public. Just the fact that basic food stuffs, the prices of which are a life and death issue for billions across the planet are traded as in a game of monopoly with no regard for the fate of the most destitute among the human population is a testament to the greed, avarice, and utter callousness of the human heart. And the stupid middle class, kept busy being amused by Oprah, American Idol and Monday Night football, are as much the culprits as those on Wall Street who execute the trades that are a death warrant for millions because the traders stand to make millions in blood money. Because of human greed and selfishness, the middle class lives in a make believe world in which there are no serious problems, at least not on the scale of life and death issues due to lack of food, therefore they give silent assent to the ivory tower traders who because of their love of money let all manner of roots of evil spring up in their hearts, and thus feel no compunction knowing their practices will bring untold suffering to millions and billions. The middle classes, therefore, are complicit in the acts of their upper class masters, whose crimes they overlook as long as it does not cause them discomfort or misery. Commodity trading bombs are crueler than those dropped out of airplanes because they cause slow deaths, not instantaneous ones. Many nations of the world, such as overpopulated India are still reeling from the food price shocks of 2008. The following article should be carefully studied by all, the effects of such speculations will not forever be limited to the world’s poorest, they will land on the doorstep of the well fed Americans or Europeans or Australians or Canadians, and other first world nations sooner than most people expect.
How Goldman Sachs gambled on starving the world's poor - and won / “By now, you probably think your opinion of Goldman Sachs and its swarm of Wall Street allies has rock-bottomed at raw loathing. You're wrong. There's more. It turns out the most destructive of all their recent acts has barely been discussed at all. Here's the rest. This is the story of how some of the richest people in the world - Goldman, Deutsche Bank, the traders at Merrill Lynch, and more - have caused the starvation of some of the poorest people in the world, just so they could make a fatter profit. There is a very scary truth that becomes apparent after watching the above very well reasoned videos in which Professor Ghosh eloquently makes the case that rise in food prices in 2008 was little related to supply and demand issues as the MSM falsely reported, but rather to speculators and traders who in all likelihood will never soil their shoes on a farm in their entire lives. The problems of 2009 and 2010 however have created an actual supply issue that did not exist in 2008. Global grain production due to drought in Russia and India, floods in China, Canada, United States and Pakistan have truly had a serious impact on the supply of staple grains and cereals, which would result in higher food prices in the West, and starvation problems in Africa and Asia. When speculation in food commodities, which has returned in 2010 with a vengeance, is added to the equation, the future probability of ‘Famines in diverse places’ becomes very high. I do not believe I have publically advocated stocking up on food at any time in the past but would now like to urge all readers and listeners to seriously start planning for very near term food shortages, and possibly complete lack of food in the medium to long term (the next 2 – 5 years.) Ultimately our lives are not in our own hands but in the hands of our Maker; and without trusting in Him for our eternal welfare; it really is pointless planning for our present welfare. However, if we do not prepare when we know trouble is coming, we ignore the warnings and signs given by God, and are thus responsible for our own demise, if we meet such a fate in the disastrous times that lie just ahead.
I close with more news reports about worldwide problems in major food producing nations of the planet. May God have mercy on all those who are the innocent victims of the insatiable greed of seeming humans, who in reality are devils in Armani suits; the devil does wear Prada after all!
The above stories are but a few that highlight the fact that these problems are not fiction to be ignored. The Bible tells us that a ‘Prudent man foresees the evil and hides himself’, he prepares for the lean years as Joseph did in Egypt knowing seven years of famine were coming. The prophesied famines will ravage not just one nation like Egypt but will impact many nations in ‘diverse places’. Jesus admonished His followers to ‘Watch and Pray’… we watch so that we can prepare, we pray that we may be counted worthy to escape these things, with our lives or by a merciful death. Yes, many of us will die in the unprecedented tribulation that will shake this world to its foundations and move the Earth from its foundations. But we have been warned, so let us not be caught napping when the King of kings returns to claim His inheritance.
It may also be time for those of us who believe and heed these warnings to start thinking corporately rather than individually, for group safety rather than trying to save our individual skins. It may be time for people to form communes and co – operatives where individuals contribute whatever they can to plan for the future, and to help each other when the time of Jacob’s Trouble does arrive. If there are any like minded people in southern Ontario or even in Canada or NE United States who wish to participate in some sort of co – operative venture to stock food and other essential supplies for the future, please contact me by e-mail. People in other countries can also e-mail me and I can try and connect them to people in their regions.
Luke 21:34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
