Return to Mount Olympus: Nothing New Under the Sun

Yesterday I took my 11 year old son to see the recently released movie Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning thief. Those who follow my writings are aware of my loathing of mass media because of its role in indoctrinating the populace, literally sedating them into a hypnotic state that makes them very open to suggestion. Who does the suggesting and for what purpose for covered in my last entry, Don’t Touch That Dial. As a rule I  not do not watch TV or go to the movies unless the show piques my curiosity because of its subject. Mythology, which I believe is the history of past epochs of creation has been a subject of study for me for many years now, and therefore it interests me a great deal to see the treatment that Hollywood gives to this important subject. I am also a student of Science – Fiction, which as evidenced by the history of the last two centuries has proven to very prophetic. That which we are first made aware of through Sci – Fi seems to become reality sooner than later. So the selective movies and TV programs that I do watch, I do so with the intent of analyzing them to see the ‘real world’ hidden in the world of make believe. Mythology and Sci – Fi have a close connection, and that I believe is based upon reality, upon real history of the past. The ages gone by were more advanced scientifically and technologically than our present age, this is the reason why there is a great deal of use of advanced technology documented in almost all mythologies. For instance, Zeus’ thunderbolt, Hades’ helmet of invisibility, Poseidon’s earthquake causing trident, Hermes’ winged sandals allowing flight at supersonic speeds, the Vimana flying craft of Hindu mythology, Merlin’s staff as an energy weapon, the flying chariot of Helios… the list is endless.
As documented by authors such as Erich von Däniken, our world is filled with mysterious objects and structures that could only have been built by the use of advanced technology. Some such structures cannot be built even today, for example the temple of Jupiter in Baalbek, Lebanon with its massive cut stones that no crane on our planet can move. There is way too much evidence that suggests a completely different history of our planet than that which is taught in the mass indoctrination factories that we call schools and colleges. Please read my article on the ‘Ages of Creation’ for more information on this subject. All religious texts including The Bible detail interactions of man with supernatural beings that travel to Earth from other worlds and dimensions. Once again due to the ‘Hollywood’ influence, the word ‘Supernatural’ has come to mean Night of the Living Dead, that we are all supposed to turn into shrieking teenagers just because we might encounter something ‘supernatural’. However the word ‘Supernatural’ really means something beyond that which is natural or terrestrial, beyond earth. In this vast, immeasurable and infinite Universe, for man to believe that he is the only intelligent being out there, that he has all the answers, that is, he has enough knowledge to explain everything, is beyond conceit.  We have barely begun to explain all that we encounter in the ‘Natural’ world, let alone the ‘Supernatural’ worlds. It stands to reason that whatever exists in the Universe will be far more ‘Supernatural’ than that which is ‘Natural’, that which is terrestrial; it is more reasonable to assume that the ‘Supernatural’ is the norm rather than the exception. Is that not exactly what religion and mythology teach us, that non – human intelligent beings, both corporeal and ethereal exist and predate man by eons? Who exactly are the gods and heroes of mythology and Biblical scripture if not intelligent beings that may or may not be corporeal, and even if they are corporeal, they may or may not look like man? Take for instance the hybrid creatures of mythology such as the centaur, minotaur, satyr, hydra, medusa and others too numerous to list here; are these all fictional creatures? Does not man not already have the technology to create such hybrids? Watch this BBC report to understand that hybridization is already a fact. If man with his primitive technology (by cosmic standards) can create such monstrosities, why could not ancient technologically advanced civilizations have done so already? Why might not have such advanced civilizations inhabited our planet in the distant past? Why could mythological accounts not be the history of these ancient civilizations? If such is the true history of the planet then it would serve us well to study it and decide for ourselves who these ancient ‘gods’ really were, and what their legacy has been for mankind.

Hollywood has been on a mission since its very early days to romanticize mythology, the mythological creatures and gods, tales of Hercules and other heroes and gods have been a mainstay of both the big screen and small since the very early days of moving pictures. This mission has shifted into hyper drive since the 80’s with the Fantasy / Sci – Fi genre becoming overwhelmingly popular through the success of movies such as Star Wars, Indiana Jones, ET, Conan, Excalibur (Arthur), The Dark Crystal, Blade Runner, Never Ending Story… this trend has accelerated through the 90’s and in this century with the Harry Potter franchise, The Narnia Chronicles, (please don’t mistake ‘Narnia’ movies or books as Christian in content), The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Pirates of the Caribbean, the mega hit Avatar (click to read my review), and now the beginning of the new child-man hero, Percy Jackson. Over the past 30 years the budgets have gotten bigger and the movies much more grand, the world of Fantasy – Mythology / Sci – Fi seems to be blending in with the real world, or at least there seems to be a concerted effort on the part of Hollywood to make them one. Is this ‘Sorcery / Magic’ motif in movies targeted at kids / young adults motivated by profit alone or is there some other wizardry at work driving this growth? It stands to reason that if all that was still on TV was ‘Leave it to Beaver’ and ‘I Love Lucy’, people would still be watching it. If movies were still ‘The Ten Commandments’ or ‘Casablanca’, people would still go to the movies. So the change in the content of the movies is not just a natural progression as a result of improvements in technology but an unseen hand seems has been holding out promises of ‘supernatural’ powers to audiences through sorcery and wizardry. A whole generation of youth has been taught to think of ‘supernatural’ practices such as witchcraft, wizardry, and other dark occult crafts as being ‘natural’.  They are trained to think that in order to be ‘heroes’ such as Harry Potter they will need a wizard’s wand. The wand for them will open the door to a world of fantasy and marvel, where they are children of the gods; they are demigods, not mere mortals.
Such a demigod is the youth Percy Jackson, a son of Poseidon and a mortal woman, a son of the god of the seas. Percy is named after a Greek hero, Perseus, the legendary slayer of Medusa, a variation of which is a part of the storyline of the movie.  The story begins with Zeus, the head of the Olympian gods, meeting with his brother Poseidon and accusing him of stealing his thunderbolt or lightning, and thus the name of the movie, The Lightning Thief. He gives Poseidon until midnight summer solstice, midnight June 21st to return the bolt or else there would be war. I wonder if there is any real life significance in the date of June 21st since Hollywood is famous for including occult messages and symbols in movies. Could there be a major war starting on summer solstice this year? We wait and see. By the way the wars of the mythological gods are mostly fought in the domain of the mortals, so such a war would have major consequences for our world unless Percy Jackson rides in, or rather swims in to save the day. Percy seems to be more at home in the water than on the surface as witnessed by an early scene of Percy sitting on the bottom of a pool for seven minutes, I also wonder if the number seven mentioned in this scene has any occult significance?
Though he had grown up without knowing about his ancestry, early on in the movie Percy discovers that he is no ordinary mortal but rather a demigod, a son of Poseidon. He finds this out when he is attacked by a Fury in a museum where he is on a school trip studying Greek mythology. He is saved by one of his teachers who happens to be a Centaur, who has been assigned to watch over Percy until it his real ancestry can be revealed to him. His best friend is a Satyr in disguise who is also Percy’s protector. It is assumed among the ‘gods’ that only Percy could have stolen Zeus’ bolt, why they believe so is not explained. Therefore Percy becomes a target of Hades, the god of the underworld who first sends the Fury to attack Percy and then sends a Minotaur who kidnaps his mother and takes her to Hades, the Biblical Hell in the belly of the earth. Whoever has the Bolt will automatically become the most powerful god since Zeus’ bolt is apparently the most powerful weapon ever created by the gods. Zeus, Poseidon and Hades being the three most powerful of the gods, the battle for supremacy is a battle of the three. Poseidon is shown to be a ‘nice guy’, and therefore not interested in taking over Olympia, thus leaving Hades as the only ‘bad guy’ in the movie. The story is told very straightforwardly with no real twists or turns and is far from keeping one glued to the seat.
More than the story what I found most interesting was the setting of the story in modern America. The places within the country that correspond to mythological places, such as Hollywood representing Hades, are more than just symbolic representations. Once Percy becomes aware of his demigod status he is sent to Camp Half-blood, a training camp for demigods, children of gods and mortals. It might be useful to provide a Biblical perspective on this Half-blood theme found both in this movie and the Harry Potter movies. There is even a cryptic reference to half-bloods reaching all the way to ‘The White House’; I have own interpretation of what that means but I will withhold it for now since it is based on speculation.
Gen. 6 v 4: There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
The Bible tells us that there was a time when there were giants in the earth; this fact is also confirmed by all mythologies as well as by archaeological and geological evidence. I wrote an article on the identity of these giants a while back, click on link to read that story. It also makes mention of the sons of God that would correspond to the mythological gods. The union of the sons of God and daughters of men produced offspring that were considered to be ‘mighty men’, ‘men of renown’ or heroes by the ancient peoples. In all likelihood the saga of the HEROES of mythology is based upon real life figures that inhabited the antediluvian world which was a strange world indeed, more closely resembling the world of mythology than our present day world. The word ‘renown’ in Gen 6:4 means FAME, these men were the Famous men, the Stars, the Demigods of their day and the heroes worshipped by the Greeks and other cultures. Hero worship, as in the worship of Famous People is still with us today, the main function of mass media is to keep viewers attention focused on ‘humans’, mere mortals that are portrayed as ‘demigods’, as stars, as heroes. Percy Jackson is the latest wunderkind hero, who fearlessly in the manner of a modern day Heracles travels to the underworld to free his mother.  For his journey he requires three pearls without which it would not be possible to come back to the land of the living. These pearls are hidden in various parts of the United States.
The first pearl is located in a place called Auntie Em’s Garden. The obvious reference is to The Wizard of Oz with the added twist that the Aunt in this case is Medusa, the serpent headed creature of Greek mythology whose stare can turn people to stone. Calling Medusa Auntie Em I believe is a cryptic reference to modern icons turning people to stone. The Wizard of Oz is considered to be a good wholesome story but people completely miss the message that the wizards of the media create their values for them, making them believe high sounding but ultimately meaningless phrases like ‘There’s no place like home’ when the Bible tells us we have no permanent home in this world. The modern day Percy like his namesake Perseus, beheads Medusa and retrieves the first pearl.
The second pearl is hidden at the Parthenon replica in the Athens of the south, Nashville, TN. The influence of occult mythology on the shaping of supposedly Christian USA is a well hidden fact but a fact nonetheless. In the Parthenon the second pearl is retrieved after a battle with Hydra who is finally defeated by turning it to stone using Medusa’s severed head.
The last pearl is in Las Vegas at the Lotus hotel whose motto is ‘You will never want to leave’. Like the lotus eaters that Odysseus encountered on his journey back to Ithaca, this hotel serves up a lotus candy with opium like effects. It dulls the senses and puts the eater into a trance like state so that he never wants to leave’. This again is representative of the hypnotic effects of opiates called pastimes carefully crafted for the amusement of the thinking challenged masses. The American dream is just that, A DREAM, and as Bob Dylan sings in order to dream, one must still be asleep. Few people realize that Vegas like dream worlds are ever so destructive for their souls that one has to be literally entranced to find enjoyment in such a place. Sadly there are plane loads that land in Vegas everyday filled with people dreaming of riches. (Mark 8 v 36: For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?) Percy though first lulled to sleep is woken by his father Poseidon speaking into his subconscious; he wakes up, rescues his two companions and retrieves the third pearl. Spirits speaking into one’s subconscious, a spirit guide so to speak, is a major occult theme that has been hammered into children and young adults for a few decades now. Beware of voices in your head, your friends they are not!
After acquiring the three pearls that would make it possible for them to return to the surface world; Percy and his two fellow travelers, journey to the underworld. In the light of my research on the hellish influence of mass media on people, I found the symbolism quite appropriate that the entrance to Hades happens to be in Hollywood, right by the big Hollywood sign. The cult of ‘Hero’ worship is symbolized more by Hollywood than any other name or place in the world. Hollywood gives people their ‘gods’, and in worship of Brangelina or whoever the current Star deities might be, people go down to perdition, never having made any effort to understand their Creator or the purpose for which they were created. Mass media as symbolized by Hollywood is a major influence in the fulfillment of this scripture; Romans 1 v 25: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. There is nothing harmless about entertainment; it does fatal damage to the soul.
Upon entering Hades they realize that the ferryman has to be paid and he doesn’t accept US $. As a matter of fact he burns them, $150 to be exact. But he does accept gold drachmas! The symbolism here is too obvious to be overlooked, the ongoing and imminent complete destruction of paper currencies, especially the US $ is almost a given. The ‘Beast’ cannot rise out of the Sea, or come up out of the Earth without a complete meltdown of the present Economic order. The destruction of the present order being perpetrated from the bowels of hell is indeed appropriate symbolism. Is gold the safe haven? Not Biblically speaking for gold never saved anyone’s soul but from a perspective of seeing the evil coming and preparing oneself, having some money in gold coins instead of paper currency may not be a bad idea. (Proverbs 22:3 A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.)
While in Hades, Percy discovers that he had Zeus’ bolt all along that was hidden in a shield he was carrying to protect himself. The bolt is briefly captured by Hades but with the help of Persephone, Hades’ reluctant wife, the bolt is recovered by Percy, he rescues his mother as well. Incidentally, Hades is actually a fire breathing dragon who dresses like Mick Jagger. There is some subtle symbolism in movie that will be missed by the mostly young audiences, in one scene the song ‘Highway to Hell’ is blaring as the three protagonists travel on a bus. ‘Riders on the Storm’ by ‘The Doors’ is also one of the songs chosen for some scenes.
In order to avert the war between the gods that would ravage the world of the mortals, Percy rushes off to Mount Olympus, the entrance to which happens to be in The Empire State building in New York City. New York State is ‘The Empire State’, named after the American global mercantile empire began taking shape and New York being the financial capital of the ‘Empire’ became known as ‘The Empire State’. In the movie the gods are show residing over NYC and the world, even as the masses are oblivious of their existence and influence in human affairs (… spiritual wickedness in high places – Eph. 6 v 12). The hall of the gods in Mount Olympus looked very much like the US Supreme Court building and also like the Federal Reserve building in New York; I found both of these resemblances to be quite symbolic. It is obvious that the moviemakers are depicting New York City as the city that reigns over the kings of the Earth.  Rev. 17 v 18: And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth. Once Zeus’ bolt is returned, war is averted (does it ever get averted in real life), and Percy returns as The Hero among the half-bloods.
It is my strong belief that there is a Satanic agenda at work in the proliferation of movies such as Harry Potter and the one reviewed above. Whether one believes it or not, movies are powerful conditioning tools and have been used to change the very fabric of society. There is a night and day difference between the world of just 50 years ago, and the present world. Just as the counterculture of the 60’s brought behavioural changes in society as a whole making it much more acrimonious (just check the divorce rate from the 50’s to the present), so too will the occult culture that has taken deep root since the 80’s lead to spiritual changes that will have severe consequences. On a related note I believe the choice of the three gods depicted in this movie, Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades is not accidental, they correspond to three most powerful evil deities of the Bible. Satan, THE DRAGON, THE SERPENT himself corresponds with Zeus, the beast that comes up out of the sea in Rev. 13 v 1 corresponds with Poseidon, and the beast that comes up out of the Earth in the same chapter corresponds with Hades (Rev. 13 v 11). Movies and books such as the Percy Jackson series condition the masses, young children in particular to perceive these ancient ‘evil’ creatures as ‘cool’ for they are not portrayed as suave rock star heroes, not as bloodthirsty beasts that ravage without conscience. As depicted in the movie, and as any student of mythology understands these ‘gods’ are selfish, existing without care or concern for anyone except themselves. As ‘The Dragons’ and his beasts cast their net of deception over an ever greater number of people, see the world become more draconian, with the passage of more and more draconian laws. Mt. Olympus being depicted by The Supreme Court building and the Federal Reserve are more than appropriate. Power and Money in this world are given to those who bow to the gods at the expense of their souls. It is not without reason that we were commanded to refrain from the worship of these ancient wicked ones whose stench is rising ever stronger from the air, the water and the earth, disguised though it might be by Hollywood as sweet savor of incense.
Deut. 18:10: There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. 11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

  3. He hit this one right on the money. I couldn't have summed up this movie any better myself. I especially agree with the mythological hero's of old, men of renown. A great historian Pezron wrote a book called 'The Antiquites of Nations' that explains in great detail that the hero's of old were in fact real and they came from the sons of God. Great Article!
