Lucifer: god of the old world, Satan: god of the new

2 Peter 3: 5–7

· 5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

· 6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

· 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

As proven in previous articles and radio show series on the chronology and history of creation, there existed upon Earth, and perhaps beyond, a civilization that predates the modern day civilization that began with Adam and Eve some 6000 years ago. This pre–historic age began at the very dawn of time itself and lasted an unknown length of time, possibly millions if not billions of years in Earth time. The apostle Peter clearly makes a distinction between the OLD WORLD (the world that then was), and the NEW WORLD (the heavens and the earth, which are now). It has already been proven that this reference to the heavens of old and the old world could not possibly have been to the world that existed in Noah’s days but rather to a much more ancient time (please read previous articles and listen to chronology of creation radio series for proof). In this present article I would like to focus on the purpose of the creation, and ultimate destruction of that old world. In a nutshell that world was created to allow evil to be birthed, and to reach full maturity, and having reached full maturity, to destroy ‘the world that then was’, the world in which evil was first born. As already proven but to be explored in much greater detail in later entries, God deemed it necessary to have evil present in the world prior to the creation of modern man. Therefore that whole age of antiquity from which various cultures derive their tales of mythology did in fact exist and flourish, in my opinion, across the entire universe. It was truly a Star Wars movie type of world with inhabited planets across galaxies, interplanetary and intergalactic travel more common than intercontinental travel today; filled with creatures of different species, hybrids created from a mix of different species, mutants, such as giants, created through genetic manipulation, and also angelic spirit beings who ruled over the galaxies and planets of these old worlds. These ‘fallen’ angels, the chief amongst whom was a cherub named Lucifer, were the originators of evil in the cosmos. Although evil in the form of rebellion against his creator, God, first arose in the heart of Lucifer, there were an untold number of highly intelligent and powerful angels who joined him in this rebellion. The apostles, Peter and Jude, make reference to these ‘fallen’ angels in the following scriptures.

· 2 Peter 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment.

· Jude v6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

Although there are hundreds of references to Satan in the bible, Lucifer is mentioned by name, only once, in Isaiah 14:12. A few verses in Ezekiel 28 speak of this cherub that we identify as Lucifer but other than that both the Old Testament, and the New Testament do not have much to say about this mysterious creature. The common assumption amongst theologians is that Lucifer and Satan are one and the same person; however this does not seem to be the case. Isaiah identifies Lucifer as a ‘son of the morning’, a clear reference to him as a being of light, an angelic being (light is equated with angels in the bible), and the prophet Ezekiel addresses him as an ‘anointed cherub’, which is a class of angelic being higher than man. Satan on the other hand is identified as a ‘dragon’, and ‘serpent’, a reptilian creature not a being of light. Whereas Lucifer appears to be ethereal in nature, Satan seems to be corporeal, even if he is a disembodied spirit at present; it is significant that he seems to have had a corporeal existence at some time in the past which does not appear to be the case with Lucifer.

· Rev. 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

The bible can truly provide a great deal of information in just a few words, and a close parsing of the scriptures referencing Lucifer in Isaiah and Ezekiel reveal a world of information, both about Lucifer himself, and the old world, the pre-historic world(s) that once existed right here on Earth and beyond. The pre–history that can be pieced together from just the dozen or so verses of scripture below will provide a mosaic that stretches across galaxies of space, and eons of time. It will eventually lead us to understand the real purpose of all creation, and of the age of destruction that has preceded us. Why would God whose understanding is infinite allow such seemingly flawed creatures as Lucifer and Satan come into existence, knowing the havoc they would wreak in his universe, particularly upon Earth? Psalm 147:5 Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite. The subject of the origins and the purpose of evil is too vast to be covered in one blog entry, it will most likely stretch across several but it is of vital importance to understand that past so we can accurately understand our present. I have bullet pointed the following scriptures according to the subject of each verse, since these few verses deal with a variety of subjects and reveal a wealth of information. Please study them carefully till the next entry where I will continue this study.

Isaiah 14: 12–15

· 12How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!

· How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

· 13For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven,

· I will exalt my throne above the stars of God:

· I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

· 14I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

· 15Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

Ezekiel 28: 12–19

· 12Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

· 13Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God;

· Every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold:

· The workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.

· 14Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so:

· Thou wast upon the holy mountain of God;

· Thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

· 15Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

· 16By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned:therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

· 17Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty,

· Thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness:

· I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

· 18Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick;

· Therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.

· 19All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.
